| Belgium pepperbox revolver made by famous Lepage. c. 1870
Ivory griped 7mm caliber revolver using cartridge system by Le Facheux-pinfire. Typical pepperbox type of pistol where revolving drum is acting as a barrel. Frame and drum decorated with golden wine leaves on a russeted backround.
Frame was originally browned or blued but now showing only dark brown colour.
In the front of the drum is a small stamp: Lepage. The most famous gun manufacturers in Belgium who established their company in 1790. They started the bench testing and bigger company 1810.
Well known maker who produced many royal weaponry during first half of the 19th century.
Short lived pinfire system was in vast use before central and rimfire cartridges. Ignition happened by gunhammer hitting the protruding pin inside the cartridge.
Nice conditioned pistol. Missing it's small ejector pin which was screwed in the botom of the grip.
